working with communities

In order to help these children get back into their communities we have set up committees that are made up of staff and children from the centres, along with local people (such as church leaders and chiefs). These committees help the local community to feel part of the projects we are running and create a support network within the local area for the children when they are outside of the centres.  They also give the children a chance to take control of their situation and allow them an oppertunity to speak up for themselves and the other children in the centres.

Each committee comes up with a plan of action and everyone gets trained in child rights and in how to spread the word. They then run workshops and activities on topics like the rights of the child and work with local churches to help tackle the problem of children being accused of being witches.
