‘Child-to-child’ is a scheme that helps children identify their own problems and come up with a plan of action on how to improve their situation. This is a positive approach to self-protection and helps the children develop important life skills.

 ‘Child-to-child’ focuses on child rights and uses a series of activities to help children to think about the issues that affect their lives. They then get to make important decisions and take action to promote their protection in their communities with the support of adults.

For people who have had to leave their home because of the war there is a risk that they might not be able to get help when they need it. In Iraq, to be able to access social welfare and to be able to go to school you need to have the proper paperwork. In fact without the right documents you can’t even get the food rations that you are entitled to. Getting new documents takes a lot of time and is very hard for people to do.

So one of our projects focused on giving people legal support and helped them to get the right paperwork they needed to access what is rightfully theirs.
