Internally displaced people in Rural areas

We have worked with the internally displaced people in the Marsh Arab communities. Following Saddam’s draining of the Marshes people were left unable to support themselves as they once had and the destruction of these communities meant that these children didn’t have the most basic services or the protection they deserved.

We worked to provide grants and training for the most in need families to help them earn a living for their family. Livelihood projects included animal breeding, carpentry and brick making. We also began a series of child protection projects to try to stop things such as forced marriage and promote health and education.
