Working with Community Leaders

We work with the whole community to help protect kids in IDP camps. We helped to set up a referral system that will flag up any concerns about a child and help get these young people, who are often living outside of the main community, back into society.

We also encourage adults and young people in these communities to help campaign for child rights and spread the word that the whole community needs to take responsibility for the protection of its children.  This community involvement helps to build relationships between the socially excluded children and everyone else.

Alongside this we have training schemes that offer parenting classes as well as training in child protection which has helped to change attitudes towards socially excluded kids; 80% of the kids in our project felt that there had been a positive change in the way they were treated.

We work with other local organizations to do all of this.
